Bawdsey Radar
Capturing the birth of radar
Working with Bawdsey Radar
On 24th September 1937, just 18 months after the Air Ministry’s first top secret experiment established that it was possible to detect an approaching aircraft by transmitting radio waves, a tiny outpost in a secluded corner of Suffolk became home to the first fully operational radar station in the world.
Today, following a £1.8 million refurbishment, RAF Bawdsey’s transmitter block houses a fascinating interactive visitor experience.
Drawing on our own Suffolk heritage and history of working with not-for-profit organisations, we created the brand for the newly established Bawdsey Radar experience, capturing the historic significance of the site, while giving it a fresh, dynamic identity for the 21st century.
Also producing the brand guidelines, website design and a suite of marketing collateral and merchandising, we collaborated closely with the exhibition designer to ensure the branding was carried through sympathetically into the displays and signage for a coherent and immersive experience.
