Working with Ipswich School
The challenge
Ipswich School is one of the UK’s leading independent schools, with a long-established reputation and a clear, ambitious focus on the future. They needed a new prospectus suite that reflected both, aligning with their recently launched website and film while raising the overall quality of their marketing.
The challenge was to express this balance with restraint: something premium, confident and contemporary, without losing the weight of heritage. Visually led, but structured enough to communicate effectively.
Our approach
Working within an established brand, many of the core elements, including logo and colour palette, remained unchanged. Our focus was on how these elements could be used differently, bringing greater clarity, consistency and energy to the overall identity.
Typography became a key lever. By introducing a bold, modern serif, we shifted the tone towards something warmer, more human and more reflective of the school’s people-first ethos.
Rather than redefining the brand, we evolved it through subtle, considered changes that reshape perception and elevate how the school presents itself, without losing the strength of what already exists.
What we delivered
We designed a new suite of prospectuses for Ipswich School, spanning Senior School, Sixth Form, Prep and Nursery, each tailored to its audience while maintaining a consistent visual language.
At the heart of the work was a more refined and contemporary design approach, reimagining one of the school’s most important brand assets. The result is a more elegant and elevated expression of Ipswich School, better reflecting its position as one of the country’s leading independent schools.
Alongside the prospectus suite, we brought one of the school’s core publications, The Ipswichian, into alignment with the new direction. As the school’s annual magazine celebrating pupil achievements, experiences and community life, it plays a key role in how the brand is experienced by both internal and external audiences.
Unifying these outputs created a more considered and cohesive set of communications, strengthening overall brand presence and ensuring alignment across both print and digital formats.
The impact
The new prospectus suite presents Ipswich School with greater clarity, confidence and consistency, elevating how the brand is experienced across key audiences. By aligning all core publications, it creates a more recognisable identity, ensuring every interaction reflects the quality of the school itself.
Working together
Ipswich School came to us with a clear ambition for how they wanted to present themselves, underpinned by a strong visual direction and a renewed focus on photography. We worked closely with their team to shape and realise that vision, bringing structure, creativity and a fresh perspective.
Running in parallel with wider marketing activity, including a new website and film, the project required a high level of trust and alignment. We collaborated closely with the Marketing Director to ensure the prospectus suite would sit seamlessly alongside these elements.
Open communication and a shared understanding of the end goal kept the process focused, resulting in a cohesive body of work that supports the school’s wider brand with consistency and intent.
